From the mouths of babes

Mama was checking herself out on the bathroom scales, when J (now age 7) invited herself in and then made the following comment: "Whoa, Mom- you weigh over a thousand pounds??!?!" (Mom was quick to point out that J had missed the decimal point...)

And then C (age 5) was singing to herself an old song by Heart: "I hear the ticking of a cloud, I'm lying here to pinch the dog..."
(The actual lyrics go something like this: "I hear the ticking of the clock, I'm lying here, the room's pitch dark". For any of you who don't know the song.)

Just a couple amusing demonstrations of how, even though we may "see" and "hear", we may lack true understanding. I can't help but think that with my own limited, finite knowledge and understanding, perhaps God sees me as I see my little children. Plus some omniscience, of course. And just as the kids need my guidance and wisdom, I know I need at least that from my loving Heavenly Father.

  1. We need so much more! Do you think Heavenly Father laughs as hard when we "get it wrong" as we do when our children pinch the dog or forget the decimal point? I sure hope he has a sense of humor!
